Over the last three years, hundreds of DNA volunteers, along with our partners at the Providence Parks Department, have transformed over a mile of our Riverwalk (from the Hurricane Barrier to the basin of Waterplace Park) by replacing all of the broken/missing cables, and by sanding and painting over 400 railings, light poles, trash receptacles and benches. It looks incredible and to date, we have saved the City of Providence an estimated $300,000 in labor costs, alone!
Our next Riverwalk project will be on Tuesday, June 18, from 5:30-8pm. We will remove stickers, continue to paint railings, benches, and lamp posts and pick-up trash along our waterways.
We have ambitious plans for 2019, so we hope to see you all out there having some fun, supporting our efforts and lending a hand! Please register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/dna-june-riverwalk-restoration-project-tickets-57058739225 so that we can plan our supplies. Walk-ups are always welcome if you can't register in advance. Thank you and we hope to see you there!
